In the mid-1930s, the Giraldo Solis brothers emigrated from Quindío to Valle del Cauca in search of new opportunities. The youngest brother, Jaime Giraldo, owned two radio stations and found an opportunity in an old mill, founding Farina, initially called "Fábrica Productos Saludables Girasol." In 1954, he rebranded it as "Fábrica de Fécula Farina Cia Ldta," and through his advertising skills, he made the company nationally recognized with slogans emphasizing its nutritional benefits for children in Colombia.
